Common FAQ’s

  • Once eligibility is determined, the client is weighed, measured and all participants over 1 year of age receive an iron check. This is a small prick of the finger that measures the hemoglobin in the blood to ensure clients are not anemic. A Certified WIC Technician will review a completed health assessment to determine nutritional risks, help client establish steps to achieve health goals and make any referrals the client expresses interest in.

  • Typically twice a year. A WIC certification period lasts for one year, with a Midpoint Wellness Check scheduled 6 months after the certification. Some clients may need to come each quarter to meet with the WIC Dietitian.

Nutrition Education is a requirement of the WIC Program and will need to be completed two times during the annual certification period. We encourage clients to do this via the WIC app or online. Then they can just call to have their benefits loaded onto their WIC card.

  • Benefits are loaded onto an EBT WIC card. The client will use this in most all major grocery stores with a PIN number they select. Each quarter following the WIC appointment, 3 months of benefits are loaded onto the card. Benefits expire monthly and must be used during the designated timeframe.

  • Fruits, vegetables, milk, eggs, cheese, peanut butter, whole grains, cereal, canned fish, baby food and formula. For a complete list.... Learn more: https://www.fns.usda.gov/wic/food-packages-maximum-monthly-allowances
